Ten years of chargecloud – ten years full of energy, ideas and true dedication.


What began as an ambitious vision has unfolded into one of Europe's leading providers of e-mobility software, with over 250 employees and more than 95,000 managed charge points – Europe’s digital Heart of EV charging.

Driven by a passion for electric mobility and a firm belief that, together, we can make the energy transition towards a decarbonised world a reality, we look back with gratitude and pride – and at the same time with humility – on everything we have learnt and achieved over the past ten years.

Above all, it has been ten years alongside you – our customers, partners and companions. Thank you for your trust, feedback, patience and drive.

Milestones

2025

Growth & Impact: A further funding round drives our expansion into various European markets. We also surpass 70,000 charge points.

2022

Innovation & Investment: We launch new services including Billing 2.0, the Fleet module and the Marketplace, which go beyond a pure CPMS. 30,000 charging points and a capital increase of €1.5 million provide further momentum.

2021

Renewal & Europe: Markus Bach is taking over the management of the company from Axel Lauterborn and is preparing it for the European market. New modules, the 24/7 hotline and strong growth have brought us to 15,000 charging points.

2020

Scaling & Strengthening: We expand our system by switching to the AWS cloud for even greater reliability and introduce the blocking fee as an important feature for efficient charging.

2019

Products & Partners: Following a successful funding round, we expand our portfolio to include Partner Solution Management for site partners. The Partner-Forum (now “connect”) is launched for the first time.

2018

Calibration Law & Success: We introduce calibration-law-compliant billing, celebrate the successful closing of our 50th customer and grow to more than 1,500 connected charge points.

2017

Municipal Utilities & System Expansion: Our first customers are municipal utilities and energy suppliers. With the introduction of the REST API and a white-label B2B portal, site and sales partners can be integrated.

2016

Founding & Shareholders: chargecloud is established as a joint venture of RheinEnergie, MENNEKES and powercloud with the goal of developing a scalable, manufacturer-independent SaaS solution for the operation and billing of charging infrastructure.
