Since 2023, the EU’s AFIR regulation has at least settled the “whether”, even if it does not prescribe every detail of the “how”: publicly accessible charge points from 50 kW upwards must support contactless card payment. For many charge point operators (CPOs), and municipal utilities, that creates an immediate need to act.

The process is as simple as it sounds:
The charging session is initiated via the Payter terminal.
chargecloud performs the remote start.
Billing runs fully and in real time through the system.
